THE PILATES MAT ROOM
Welcome to The Pilates Room, a small, heart-forward Classical Pilates studio tucked across from the S.S. Sicamous. We teach the original method on authentic Classical equipment and real Pilates mats, with intentionally small classes and instructors who truly see you. If you’re looking for thoughtful teaching, real support, and movement that helps you feel stronger, more flexible, and more connected in your everyday life, you’re in the right place.

What is Pilates?
Pilates is a system of exercises created by Joseph H Pilates to strengthen, stretch, and balance the body. It is a whole body workout and aims to connect the mind and the body through precise movement. It will help you to begin initiating movements from the center of the body and therefore create healthier body mechanics. Pilates is a great workout, but it can also be applied to everything else you do from lifting a child to running a marathon.

Small Group Classes
Our classes are tiny on purpose, friendly, focused, and zero chance of getting lost in the back row. You get eyes-on-you attention, helpful corrections, and steady progress that actually feels good. It’s that sweet spot between personal and community. We currently offer Mat and Wunda Chair groups only, with no group Reformer at this time.

Private Sessions
Private sessions are where the magic happens, just you and your instructor, moving at your pace and focusing on what your body needs that day. You’ll work across the full Classical system: Reformer, Cadillac, Wunda Chair, High/Electric Chair, Arm Chair, Spine Corrector, Ladder Barrel, Small Barrels, Ped-o-Pul, plus all the props that help everything click and support clear, effective progress.

COMMON QUESTIONS
New to Pilates? Or just new to us? Let’s start with the good stuff. We recommend beginning with 3 Discovery Privates—one-on-one sessions built entirely around you: your body, your goals, your pace. This is where we lay your foundation. You’ll learn the classical method (don’t worry, no pop quiz), get personalized guidance, and leave each session feeling stronger, more confident, and maybe even excited to move. Got an injury? Rebuilding strength? Just tired of guessing what your body actually needs? Perfect. This is your starting line. One step. One session. One, “Wait… I can do that!” at a time.
DO YOU PROVIDE A MAT? Absolutely. We’ve got mats. We’ve got magic circles. We’ve got flex bands, hand weights, and probably one too many foam rollers. Basically? If you need it for class, we’ve got it. All you need to bring is you (and maybe a water bottle if you're feeling fancy). 😊
By early 2026, we’ll have the full Classical Pilates setup. Reformer, Electric Chair, Wunda Chairs, Cadillac, Barrels, Push-Up Device, Foot Corrector, Neck Stretcher, and of course, the traditional Classical mats. We offer small-group Mat and Chair classes, along with full-studio 1:1 Private sessions for anyone ready to experience the complete system the way Joseph Pilates designed it.
